New horizons conference

On September 8, 2025, CIIMAR marked its 25th anniversary with the commemorative conference “New Horizons”, bringing together government representatives, scientists, academics, industry leaders, policymakers, and members of civil society.

The event celebrated CIIMAR’s significant contributions to marine and environmental sciences over the past quarter-century, while opening discussions on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

As part of the program, Benjamin Costas presented the research carried out within the IGNITION project, with a talk titled “Novas ferramentas para prevenir e mitigar os efeitos das alterações climáticas na aquicultura”. His presentation highlighted innovative strategies to strengthen aquaculture resilience in the face of climate change.

The “New Horizons” conference not only honored CIIMAR’s past achievements but also reinforced its commitment to shaping a sustainable future for marine and environmental research.
