We’re at the 7th Genomics in Aquaculture Sympoisum

A2S proudly participated in the 7th Genomics in Aquaculture (GIA) Symposium held in Thessaloniki, Greece, showcasing significant research contributions from its team members.

João Estevão delivered an insightful presentation on his PhD research, focusing on the “Signatures of Selection for Tolerance and Resistance to Perkinsus olseni in Grooved Carpet Shell Clam (Ruditapes decussatus) Using Population Genomics.” This work is part of the Blue BioEconomy Pact – Vertical Bivalves.

Simão Correia, also funded by the Blue BioEconomy Pact, contributed with a compelling poster on the “Gene Expression Profile of the Cockle (Cerastoderma edule) in Response to Trematode Infection.” His research, integral to his ongoing PhD thesis, sheds light on the molecular responses of cockles to parasitic infections, which is crucial for improving disease management in aquaculture.

Additionally, Sergio Boo presented a poster detailing the GRINNAQUA project, highlighting its objectives and future plans.

A2S’s active involvement in the 7th GIA Symposium underscores its commitment to advancing aquaculture genomics and fostering collaborations within the scientific community. The team’s research not only contributes to the understanding of genetic responses in aquaculture species but also supports the development of sustainable and resilient aquaculture systems.
