A2S PhD students present their research at the Blue Think Conference 2026

Our PhD students proudly represented the team at the Blue Think Conference 2026, held in Faro, Portugal, on 3-4 September 2026. The event brought together early-career researchers and experts from across the blue economy and marine sciences sectors.

All five students participated with scientific posters showcasing their latest research:

• Aminur Rashid: Effects of Salicornia ramosissima bioactives on European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) innate immune response: an in vitro approach
• Bernardo Pereira: Evaluating the potential of halophyte extracts to improve Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) welfare during a simulated heatwave
• Christopher Pimentel: Immune response of juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) under chronic thermal stress: A comparative evaluation of Salicornia ramosissima experimental diets
• Mariana Vaz: Viperin: essential coordinator of antiviral responses in trout cells via CRISPR-Cas9
• Salisa Yamauti: Non-invasive assessment of stress-related hormones in exhaled breath condensate of free-ranging cetaceans

Participation in the conference provided an excellent opportunity to share research findings, engage with fellow scientists, and contribute to discussions on the future of marine and aquatic research.
