Márcia Sariava is guest editor in Frontiers in Microbiology

We’re proud to announce a new special issue in Frontiers in Microbiology titled “Harnessing Aquatic Microbial Symbioses for Sustainable Aquaculture: Unveiling Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics,” co-edited by Marcia Saraiva from our team alongside Hilal Ay (YTU, Turkey) and Anton Gerilovych (OHSRI, Urkaine).

This Research Topic focuses on the critical role of microbial communities—from bacteria to viruses—in promoting aquaculture productivity, health, and resilience. By integrating advanced techniques like metagenomics and culturomics, the issue seeks to bridge cutting-edge microbial research with practical, sustainable solutions for aquaculture systems under the pressures of climate change and environmental stress.
