We’re looking for a research technician

A competition is open for one technician position within the project initMAPAfish – Initiating the Microbiome Genome Atlas of Portuguese Aquaculture Fish Species. This project aims to develop the first open database of microbiome species associated with fish of high relevance to Portuguese aquaculture, contributing to national capacity in microbiome research and sustainable aquaculture innovation.

The position is open to candidates holding a Bachelor’s or integrated Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Marine or Aquatic Sciences, Informatics, or related fields. Applicants should bring technical and scientific skills in metagenomic analysis, Linux command‑line tools and scripting, and bioinformatics/data analysis, along with strong English communication abilities and the capacity to work effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
